UNMUTE REFUGEES!

UNMUTE Refugees was awarded twice at the German Prize for Online Communication (DPOK), winning Emotional Campaign of the Year as well as Public Affairs, Social Impact & Advocacy. The campaign was honored for its emotional strength, social relevance and its authentic approach to giving young refugees a voice in the public discourse.

UNMUTE Refugees – 2nd Flight continues the mission to shift the public conversation about displacement — from speaking about refugees to listening to them. Building on the initial campaign, the second flight refined the strategy by placing a stronger focus on personal stories and emotional connection. Real hostile comments from social media remained the narrative trigger, inviting young people with lived refugee experience to respond with their own realities. Instead of countering hate with arguments, the campaign created space for authentic voices to be heard. At its core, the project demonstrates a simple communication principle:
When people are given the space to speak for themselves, the conversation changes.
